(Kinda) Big News!

(I went to the Open Frame Film Festival at the Palace Theater)
As you may know, I am a design intern at The Canton Repository. As of last week, I got the news that I will be staying on till the end of July! Since my job search was not going as well as I had planned, I was so happy to get that news!! It gives me more time to search for a job, learn more important information and get more useful experience. I couldn’t be happier!
In other news, my fiancé and I went to a film festival last evening. It was a lot of fun! While designing the pages for the Ticket (a special insert of Fridays in The Rep), I read about a college film festival happening downtown. I usually never have the desire to go to events such as this, but I thought it would be fun. So my fiancé and I took a chance, and we were both glad we did. It was a fun night filled with about 10 or so films made by college students, ranging from two to 15 minutes. Most of them were pretty comical, but a couple covered very serious material. All in all, it was a great experience. At the end, we even got to vote for our favorite film. (I, of course, took a couple photos before and after. Chad says I always look like a tourist when capturing these types of shots. Haha!)
I need SPRING!

I’ve probably said it before, but gloomy, cold weather really gets me down. The first part of winter I am usually OK. By the end of March beginning of April, when it’s still too unbelievably cold for spring, I just break down. I can’t handle it. I just want warm weather and shorts and bare feet by the pool. I no longer want to pull out my boots and sleep with fuzzy socks. I just want freedom to go outdoors without a coat, let alone a winter jacket.
Enough ranting! Now onto my life lately. Last week was very busy for me. I worked on the Ticket section of the paper all y myself. Well, I had some help. But I designed the whole thing! I am so proud of myself. I got everything done super early too! That’s when I got great news from my one supervisor. He said that they would try to keep me on at The Rep if it was in the budget. So great news! I enjoyed my Easter weekend thinking that I’d have a job after graduation. Then I went into work yesterday and talked with the boss. It looks like it’s not in their budget to keep me on, but they said I have been doing a wonderful job and if something would open up, I’d be really high up on the list of considered people. So that’s still good news, but I must keep searching for a job.
In other news, I found out that I will be graduating with honors. As of right now, I have a 3.65 GPA. So I will be graduating magna cum laude. That’s enough news for today. Enjoy! (P.S. the flowers are from my sweet fiancé!)
My Hectic Life
March 14, 2013 § 2 Comments
First of all, let me say that I’m sorry I haven’t posted in about four months. That is awful! Now let me explain why. In November, I was finishing up my fall semester at Kent State University. While that was hectic in itself, I was also hunting for an internship. Luckily for me, I applied, interviewed and received an internship with The Canton Repository. I am currently a page designer there. I mainly work on the Your Life section and the special Friday insert titled Ticket. I love working on those pages! I sometimes do local pages, as well. I’m just so grateful that I was able to get an internship (and it’s paid!).
Other than working three days a week, I am also finishing up my classes. I am taking two online geography classes this semester, and I will graduate May 11th. I can’t wait! Even though I can’t wait to graduate, I’m also terrified for the future. I have been applying for jobs everywhere. Hopefully one will come through just as my internship did. As for my after graduation plans, right now, I have none! That’s so sad. I just hope to get a job in my career field. And after I get a job, my fiancé and I will be able to finally set a wedding date. That will be so exciting. We’ve set so many wedding dates only to have them crushed by unexpected expenses and life in general. Once we both have steady jobs, wedding planning will be much easier. Here’s to hoping we’ll be married before 2015!
On top of my internship and classes, I’ve started working out. It’s no big deal, but I’m feeling much better about myself and my health. Now if only the weather will warm up so that I can run again. That would be lovely! In my spare time, I’ve been reading magazines and going overboard with beauty products. The beauty splurge needs to stop soon. I’m addicted, and I now have a closet full of hairsprays, perfumes, mascaras, lotions, lipsticks, etc. Crazy!! I haven’t had much time to take photos, sadly. I’ve been using my iPod for most of my pictures which is terrible compared to my big NIkon and little Canon cameras. I hope to change that soon.
And on my weekends, I’ve also been super busy. I never just sit at home anymore like I used to. Every single weekend, I’m out doing something. Whether it’s shopping, going on a date, getting my hair done, watching my niece (I’ll get to that in a minute), hanging out with family or friends, or heading to a party, I’m always busy enjoying life.
As I mentioned above, I now have a niece. She is as beautiful as a baby can be, and she holds a special part in all of my family members’ hearts. My sister had three miscarriages (that we know of) until the doctors found out why she was unable to carry a baby to term. Once the doctors found the problem, it was easily (well not so easy for my sister) fixed. She had to give herself a shot everyday since she had a blood clotting problem. With the shots, she was able to carry the baby full term, and she delivered a beautiful 7 lbs 4oz, 19 3/4 inches long baby girl. We met baby Junia Loreen an hour after she was born. January 3rd was a magical day for my sister and brother-in-law, and we’ve loved little Junia Petunia since!! (I will try to upload pictures soon!)
But that’s it for now. I hope to keep up with this better than I have been. If I post at least once a week, I’ll feel much better!
Life Lately

Here lately, life has been a bit blue. I’ve felt very busy although this semester has been fairly easy. I guess I do much better under pressure. I need to remember how I used to prioritize and get things done. I’ve been way too hard on myself lately. I’m just really worried about my future. I might not graduate on time because I have yet to find an internship. My design skills have gotten much better this semester, and I’m finally working for a publication on campus. I’m hoping the experience with this magazine will help me get an internship so that I’ll graduate on time. Also, I’m thinking about making another issue of Pearlescent magazine. Well here’s to life!
(leaf I noticed at a recent photoshoot…hopefully a post will come soon about that shoot)
(I’m a sucker for black and white photos, and I love wind through my hair)

Feeling Empty And Unwanted
May 17, 2012 § 7 Comments
Now that the semester is over, I’m done with my magazine and my birthday has passed, I’m feeling a bit sad. I don’t have a job or internship for the summer like I had hoped, and it’s not like I haven’t applied to a bunch of places. I’m just feeling down because I really thought I’d land something great (or something, anything for that matter).
I say that I hate being so busy during the semester, but honestly I thrive under pressure. Now that summer is here and I have no schedule, I’m going crazy. I want to get things done but I have no motivation. And I feel that getting things done won’t bring me happiness anyways.
Sorry for the sad post. I’m just feeling a little empty. I’m missing something. And I know what that something is: a schedule (and income). I wouldn’t feel so blue if I had a routine and some money to go do fun things (and save for my future). Well, I hope I didn’t bore you too much! I’m just being real today, and hopefully it’s not too mopey for you.
