Last Year’s Birthday Fiasco

As I said before, last year’s birthday wasn’t the best. I mean, I had a great day but my expectations were just too high. My fiance showed up with flowers and presents, and he gave me the presents throughout the day. We hung out at my house for awhile, just relaxing. We took a walk around the neighborhood and saw the neighbor’s horse and dogs. Then, we went to the McKinley Monument to see the geese. There were tons of cute baby geese, and of course I had my camera to get a bunch of pictures of them. That was fun, and the geese were so cute!

He gave me my best present while we were having a picnic in the park. We were in the middle of lunch, when he pulled out a tiny box. I knew it was jewelry. I was expecting either diamond earrings or a sapphire ring, since I had been begging for both. Well, I opened the box to find sapphire earrings. I must say that I’m not good at hiding my emotions. I was upset because I didn’t get exactly what I had asked for. He knew I was upset and was willing to take them back. I told him not to. He knew that I wanted sapphire jewelry and earrings; he just got a little confused. After the whole earring situation, we got some ice cream and relaxed at home the rest of the evening. Well at least I think that’s what we did. I don’t really like thinking back to my last birthday.

That one misunderstanding about the earrings lead to a difficult summer of me trying to figure out if he really understood me. Needless to say, there were too many unnecessary fights last summer. But he definitely made up for it on our anniversary and for Christmas. I’ll save that story for another day. Anyways, this year I am not expecting anything really just a fun day with my fiance.
