The Future Of My Blog

Chocolate-Covered Frozen Strawberries

(Chocolate-covered frozen strawberries)

With a new month starting tomorrow, I’m feeling the need for something new. While I really love blogging, I wish that I could reach more people. I love to interact with other people, and I love when people appreciate my work. With that said, I want a user-friendly blog. I want people to want to come back to my blog. I’m thinking about making my blog more about photography. I want to keep the writing about the same length, but just add more photos to each post. This should definitely be easier in the summer because I’ll have more time to take photos. What do you guys think? Would you appreciate more photography? Would that make you more likely to return to my blog day after day, and would it make you recommend my blog to friends? Let me know what you want the future of my blog to entail!

Upsets And Excitement

Flowers

(Bug on a tree, dandelion, tulip)

Well, it’s Monday of finals week. I’m already tired of studying, so hopefully I do well on my two exams. Today, I have some kind of upsetting news and some great news. First off is the upsetting news. Remember how I told you about my secret project/magazine in a recent post? Well, it’s still going to happen, but it’s not going to be as extravagant as I’d hoped it would be. I wanted the magazine to be around 100 pages, but that would mean it would be quite expensive for the customer. I’ve changed my plan to make the magazine 30 pages. That way it will be cheaper, and people might be more likely to buy it. Now for the good news, this fall I will be working for two of Kent campus’s magazines: The Burr and Fusion. I am a designer for The Burr, and I am a photographer for Fusion. I’m quite excited!

Change Of Plans

Farm on a Hill

(Farm on the way to Kent)

Sometimes, things don’t go as planned but instead they turn out better. Yesterday, I planned to stay home all day and study and work on some projects (if I had time). While I was diligently studying the day away in my room (ok, actually I was dragging out the process of getting ready), my brother asked me to go to lunch with him. Although I planned to study, I decided to go with him. Brother/sister bonding time is fun now that we’re older.

So as we were eating lunch, he asked if I’d go to Wal*Mart with him. I went with him, because who doesn’t love a random stop at Wal*Mart? I bought some eye liner, and he picked up some technological doo-dad. I got home and had full intentions of studying. I read over my notes one time, and then saw on Facebook that my sister really wanted to go to Caroline’s Cupcakes.

Before I could stop myself, my hands were typing a response to her status saying that I’d go with her. Within minutes, she called and the plans were made. When she showed up to get me, my brother decided to tag along. We got half a dozen cupcakes, and then we made a pit stop at Wal*Mart for her to get fishing lure. Weird combo, I know! Anyways, the day was fun but totally not what I expected. And if you’re wondering, I did study when I got home. And I’ve studied a lot today.

Saturday Six April 28

(1. Charmed Life lotion & Aqua Blossom Hand Sanitizer, 2. Perfume I wore when I started dating my fiance & the first piece of jewelry he gave me, 3. Homemade sugar body scrub, 4. Kent magazines, 5. Magic shell, 6. Wall art)

Well after an interesting week, I’m ready to relax. Although I want more than anything to just lay in bed all day watching movies (Charlie and the Chocolate Factory to be exact), instead I will be studying and applying for jobs. Hopefully I find some time to photograph some things. I’ve already started photographing lots of different things for my secret project that I’m working on. It’s killing me not to show you guys! Seriously, it is. But it will all be worth it when the project is done. (I hope.) I can tell you this. I’m making a magazine, and I’d love for you guys to buy a copy when it’s all done. But until then, I’ll just have to keep my photos, project ideas, etc. to myself so that I don’t give anything away. I know it’s really ambitious, but I hope to have this project finished by the end of June…so stay tuned!

Bad Idea: Project X-Inspired Party

Project X

Yesterday, my fiance and I went to see Project X. While we enjoyed the movie, we realized that the idea behind it was really stupid. Underage drinking is not okay under any circumstances. There is an age requirement to drink for a reason. By 21-years-old, a lot of people are more responsible. But not all! Anyways, the movie was funny but ended badly in that the high schooler’s whole neighborhood was trashed. Oops! Spoiler alert. But coming from a small rural town in the middle of nowhere, many of my former classmates drank well before they ever turned 21. And many high schoolers drink underage right now. It’s terrible! And tonight, one of those teenagers plans to throw a Project X  - inspired party. While this is not only a bad idea, the high schooler also decided to put the information all over Facebook. I have a feeling the cops will show up. And I hope I don’t have to read about any terrible things happening at “Project Cliff.” When will high schoolers ever learn? This event makes me disappointed to say that I went to the same high school as these people.

Where Am I?
